Edinburgh Dads Club

The Dads Club helps lone fathers to take part in a range of sport and other activities with their young children, as well as offering advice and support though the OPFS information service.

The Edinburgh Dad's club supports lone and contact fathers with pre-school children through an activity programme for Dads and their children combined with individual and group support.

Dads are also linked up with the Helpline staff to assist with housing, legal or benefit issues. Many of them also build up links with each other to share activities such as photography or football.

The Club is run as a partnership with Gilmerton Child and Family Centre in South Edinburgh and is funded through Surestart.

How we have helped

'Bill' was a father who was experiencing extreme difficulties in obtaining contact to see his children. At the last hearing the sheriff suggested that he use the Edinburgh Dad's Club and he was then granted contact on a Saturday morning.

"I had not seen my children in over 2 years and was concerned about how they would react in seeing me again, but the club made it much easier. I have been attending the dad’s club for over a year and the children have made new friends, and so have I."
