Dundee Community Family Support Project trials Community Based Child Protection Course

28th July 2009

CFSP Child Protection Course attendees

As part of our aim to provide early intervention family support, Dundee Community Family Support Project devised and ran a successful Community Based Child Protection course.

The course was run in conjunction with Sally Anderson from Dundee Childrens' and Young Persons Protection Committee, and Carole Jenkins from Dundee Community Safety Project.

The course, run in Fintry, covered four areas:

  • Exploring risks and responsibilities of child protection,
  • Personal Safety,
  • Substance misuse
  • Social networking safety

It brought in specialists such as the Community Safety Project, Womens Rape and Sexual abuse Centre, Aberlour, and Barnardos respectively.

The course was a great success. Fourteen parents completed the course and we signed off with an evaluation and certification award ceremony and buffet. It was featured in the local press and also had two follow up articles in the Evening Telegraph and the Courier.
